Parking Policy
Resident Vehicle Policy
Residents who park vehicles on Newberry Housing Authority property are allowed one parking space per unit. While we do not assign spaces, the area located at each building is for that building. If more spaces are needed, arrangements must be made for this with the other residents. If you continually do not follow the policies in place, it will be a lease violation, and you will be served with a 30-day notice to vacate.
Visitor Vehicle Policy
Visitors may not remain in the household for more than three (3) consecutive days without Authority approval. While there, the guest must adhere to the parking policy in place. Residents must be allowed to have parking where they live.
Abandoned Vehicle Policy
Residents leaving automobiles, which are not in running condition, parked on Authority property violate their lease. Residents shall remove abandoned vehicles within 48 hours (except holidays and weekends) of notice to do so by the Authority or the vehicle may be towed at the owner's expense. An abandoned vehicle is defined as one without current state registration or license plate; or a vehicle that is not covered by insurance mandated by state law; or a vehicle that is not operable; or a vehicle parked upon the lawn, sidewalk, or other areas not designated for parking. The Authority will retain and dispose of any other property abandoned by residents as provided by state law. Violation of this policy may result in the abandoned vehicle being towed at the owner's expense and the resident being served with a 30-day notice to vacate.
